An Ambulance for Haiti
Before January 12th, Port-au-Prince had six hospitals. Only one is still standing. Founded by Seventh Day Adventists, Diquini Hospital has served Haiti’s sick and injured since 1980. After the earthquake they treated 5000 quake victims and 200 more took up residence on the hospital grounds. Yet, every day their staff and supplies are becoming more and more strained, especially with the recent outbreak of cholera. They have no kitchen, no washateria, and no ambulance. Luckier patients are transported to the hospital in truck beds while others walk or have to be are carried. After hearing about their need, Gullo Ford of Conroe, donated an entirely refurbished ambulance to Restoration Fellowship, for immediate transport to Miami. From there, it will be shipped to Port-au-Prince via cargo barge. We are asking anyone for donations of high quality EMS gear like stretchers or devices that monitor vital signs.
